U17s Lauder 0 (0) - (1) 2 Peebles

Peebles u17s started their league campaign with a deserved victory away at Lauder on Sunday.  Resplendent in their new all red strip sponsored by Shukria Indian Take Away the u17s not only looked good but they also played well dominating Lauder for the majority of the match.  Peebles quickly found their rythm and were enjoying total dominance in midfield, finding outlet for their attacks particularly on the left wing with Robbie tormenting the Lauder right back.  One cross in particular picking out Reidy at the back post with a difficult chance which he failed to keep down blazing over the bar. Ben and Jack  were flinding plenty of time and space in midfield and were able to break up Lauder's attacks as well as linking up well with Jamie Ridgeway and Scott.  However, for all their domination Peebles only managed a single goal a stunning strike from Scott from 25 yards which caught out the Lauder keeper who could only plam the shot onto the post and in.  Reidy made way for Naz in the first half after a late tackle left him limping heavily and he played no further part.  As the half progressed Lauder started to exert some pressure and forced several corners.  However, this generated the best chance of the first half with a quick counterattack.  Dan played in a super ball for Naz to race onto but he failed to keep his shot down and didn't trouble the keeper. The second half followed the same pattern with Peebles still dominating and continuing to play excellent passing football.  However, it wasnt till half way through the second half that Scott grabbed a second from six yards our with an assist from Drew.  Peebles continued to press and had several shots drawing excellent saves from the Lauder keeper.  Lauder pressed really hard for the last five minutes but failed to breach the Peebles defence which had been outstanding all game.
